Chapter 9: A View to Death "The Death of the Wise"

These are the answers to the questions found here: http://www.jganesan.blogspot.com/
1. The flies in Simon's special place prefered the guts and blood of the slaughtered sow. Even though Simon was bleeding out of his nose, they still went after the pig head. Hence the name, Lord of the Flies. The name also applies to the Hebrew meaning of it, Satan.
2. Simon decides to go talk to the others, and tell them that the beast is actually the dead avaitor. To be specific, he went Jack's camp. He didn't listen to the Lord of the Flies, and that was his downfall.
3. Simon untangled the dead aviator from his parachute trap, which maybe had caused the pilots death. He noticed that this was probably what was making the joke of a beast, the thing that was making the boys think there was a beast. The way the avaitor was trapped made him move, scaring the boys who actually saw, tricking them like fools.
4. Piggy suggests that he and Ralph should go to the party, just to make sure that he doesn't do anything very rash. When they go, they notice that jack is actually ruling them like a tyrant, and won't do anything as simple as picking up a cup.
5. Ralph and Piggy's akward apperiance is broken up after Piggy is burnt from a piece of pork that had come straight off the fire that was being carried by two boys.
6. Jack told Ralph that his silly little conch, which symbolizies order, doesn't matter on his side of the island. The rules that apply with the conch on the other side do not matter there.
7. The weather toward the end of Jack's party is cloudy. It has not started to heavily rain yet, which gave Ralph the oppurtunity to make the point of shelters. The thunder and lighting is giving off the effect of a cannon.
8. As the boys do their dance, the one where they pretend that one of the boys is the pig, they have a chant. Usually it is kill the pig, cut her throat, spill her blood, but this time it was kill the beast, cut his throat, bash him in.
9. Simon emerges from the jungle, yelling the news of the beast for all to hear. The other boys however, believe the thing emerging from the bushes is the beast, not the one with news about it.
10. STRONG BODY PARAGRAPH
I believe that Ralph is the one who his mostly responsible for the death of Simon. He is usually the one who is very responsible and would notice that the thing that came out of the jungle was not the beast, and it was actually Simon. He is the one that was the original ruler, and people like that would not jump to immediate conclusions. Even if he did notice that the beast was actually Simon, he wouldn't have been able to stop them. He had lost control of the group. Ralph should have been able to tell that the thing that they were beating and biting and overall murdering was Simon.
